In 1989, my mother Sally bought 52 acres 10 miles south of the Gilroy outlets. Her plan was, to create a facility for the community focusing on outdoor activities that would bring families together. Belonging to such a small anti-growth town, it took a long time for her to get permits. Since then she has created a driving range, batting cages, mini-golf (wheelchair accessible) and lovely landscape including a butterfly garden, fountains and hundreds of rose bushes. She has also created a non-profit called "Madame Butterfly." This non-profit holds contracts with the local high school to bring kids for a 13 week outdoor program. She teaches kids how to "unplug" and get out into the world being more productive. She has so many letters from these kids, and I feel she has made a differen
