Rising Star is a children's non-profit musical theatre troupe. We exist to teach any child who has an interest in learning about musical theatre every aspect of this art; dancing, singing, acting, set design, costuming, directing and production. The children pay tuition to participate in the productions we put on. We have professionals who work with the children to teach them and help them refine their abilities including choreographer, Brenda de Hoyos, music director, Rob Meurer, and acting coach, Alejandro de Hoyos.
The purpose of Rising Star is develop greater self-esteem in the children we work with. The work we do with the cast members is about creating a safe place for kids that also helps them develop a greater sense of responsibility, more compassion, and the work itself is incredibly helpful in aiding their reading, comprehension, public speaking, self-discipline, and confidence. All of these things contribute greatly to their education, but music itself is highly regarded as an amazing tool for brain development.
Rising Star is in need of a home. We currently rent space from a local church and rent a theatre space for our productions. Ideally we would like to find an old church or school building that could be refurbished into both a theatre and rehearsal space and could also be used for music, dance, acting, and additional classes.
We could also rent the facility to other organizations in need of space for productions. The rent we would receive for these things would contribute to paying for the facility itself and also by having our own space our costs would be less.
We would appreciate an Angel investor that would be willing to donate funds to our cause. We would also be happy to discuss other types of loans.
