Description:
The business would operate by selling these retinal scanners and software packages to computer users. The scanner would upload the details of the person being authorised and encrypt them. This information would then be sent to a remote centre (i.e. the company’s headquarters) where it would be compared with data already uploaded on the person. If a match is made, an encrypted signal is sent back to the website where the person is trying to gain access (For example an internet banking login area) and the entry is authorised.
Alternatively, banks may choose to purchase the devices themselves and give them out to customers for free on account of the reduced exposure they will be at to fraud. The device would save the bank money as almost all internet fraud is covered by bank insurance poli
