Over twenty years ago Sears began a retail dealer store program to make Sears products available in smaller towns across the Country. A Hometown store is a smaller Sears store that is overseen by both Sears and an independent investor, known as the Owner/Dealer. The Owner/Dealer provides the facility and is responsible for start-up and on-going expenses, including the fixtures, utilities, point-of-sale computer/register system, payroll and insurance. Sears provides the inventory, advertising, signing and on-going training. The Dealer store carries top quality name brands in home appliances, mattresses, lawn and garden equipment, fitness equipment and tools. Sears will pay a commission and bonus to the dealer on all merchandise sold at the facility. Sears provides the inventory, advertising, internal and external signing, on-going training and consultation. Sears also provides the warranty service for merchandise sold by the dealer and the use of the Sears card without cost to the Dealer.
