Description: De urge Records is an independent Caribbean record label currently based in Queens, NY, I started it in 2006 and signed artist Michael Sparkey Drakes originally from Guyana, SA. Sparkey currently resides in Antigua. Sparkey is an artist with great potential, his first solo album released in 2007 won in Canada Best International World male Artist and Best International World CD Album. His third award came from the Underground Music Awards in NYC held at BB King’s in 2009; he walked away with the Best Reggae/Dancehall Artist for his songs “Sexy Lady” & “Holding On”. In August of 2009 he was named one of the 20 top Independent Artists of 2009 by Internet Radio Magazine. Due to the lack of development of the music from the English speaking Caribbean region, I launched the Caribbean Recording Industry Association in November 2008; its mission is to work on the development and promotion of the music. Out of this endeavor comes the Ocean Breeze Music Festival & Conference in Antigua, November 12-14, 2010.
