D. W. Higgins Institute is an Excelling Charter School with a philosophy that centers on maximzing student learning by providing a small environment and indivdualized instruction. With no more that 18 in any class, K-8, and a Special Education population of 25%, I have still achieved an Excelling rating. We have participated with the International Space Station and Col. John Phillips, and Avenet Engineers to talk with the astronauts, we have participated and had winners in the ASU Sally Ride Toy Challenge. However, the most important thing that we do is make sure that we help any student who enters our doors to understand how best to learn and reach their potenial as a respected and worthy citizen in our society.
